Health Ministry To Supply New Equipment To 85 Hospitals

A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, Tony Goodman indicated the exercise forms part of efforts by government to replace obsolete equipment and retool all hospitals across the country. The Ministry is doing this under the National Medical Equipment Replacement Project. Facilities to be benefited under this project are; rehabilitation and construction works, equipment replacement, maintenance and training for end users for more than 150 hospitals of the National Health Network, among them 2 Teaching Hospitals, 7 Regional Hospitals, more than 125 District Hospitals, 14 Health Centers and 8 Mobile Clinics. Type of Equipment are radiology, MRI equipment, computerized tomography, digital mammography equipment, equipment for surgical services, emergency, intensive care, dentistry, ophthalmology, mobile clinics, ambulances, workshop vans and 4x4 vehicles. Regions which are to benefit under this phase of distribution are; Greater Accra, Central, Western, Ashanti, Eastern and Brong Ahafo regions. About 50 hospitals have already received equipment supplies under the programme.

Obama Seeks Tighter Mental Health Restrictions on Guns

This proposed rulemaking is carefully balanced to protect and preserve individuals privacy interests, the patient-provider relationship, and the publics health and safety. Among the findings in the GAO report: As of October 2011, 17 states and five U.S. territories had submitted fewer than 10 records of individuals prohibited from owning a gun because of mental health issues. A Justice Department statement said its proposing to make clear that firearm possession would be banned for people found incompetent to stand trial, not guilty by reason of mental disease, guilty but mentally ill or lacking mental responsibility.
